Food of the 12 Gods of Olympus

Have you ever had a food experience where after the first bite, you start to make mmmm, mmmm noises that get louder and louder while continuing to chew. Let me tell you, this is what happened here when I first tried these dried figs. I have had other sundried figs from Kimi (which by the way is the most celebrated fig variety of Greece), but nothing like this. These were very moist and flavorful! Highly recommended superfood.

You can taste the care and sunshine in the figs

Thank you for the lovely review Marie!
Try them with some good yellow cheese and honey!
Hugs and kisses!

The dried fig is known for its rich nutritional value, such as iron, calcium, etc. and is part of the Mediterranean Diet for centuries. Askada Farm traditionally produces dried fig conveyed from generation to generation. Fig collectors still use traditional harvesting and dehydration methods to produce dried figs.

The cultivation of these trees gives us the chance to produce these golden-colored figs, with delicate skin and fluffy and soft texture.  Full of aromas and tastes from the local herbs. They are lusciously sweet and feature a complex texture that combines the chewiness of their flesh, the smoothness of their skin, and the crunchiness of their seeds.

Figs are a healing fruit and the health benefits of eating figs are amazing. They are an excellent source of minerals, antioxidants and dietary fiber.

Product of Greece

Stuff them with goat or sheep cheese and crushed walnuts for a light but flavorful appetizer. Alternatively, simmer them in water, red wine, or juice to make them soft and plump and ideal for sauces, marinades, chutneys, and glazes.

They are also delicious when blended with rice or quinoa, spices, and chicken or duck in pilafs. While irresistible in salads, these figs are also delicious sliced thinly into sandwiches, or simply served along with your favorite cheese.

A chewy treat perfect at any time of the day.

Askada Farm Organic Fig Spread is a winner of the British Great Taste Awards.

Wanna read an amazing fig story?

Let’s start with the word “Askada”. Askada comes from the ancient Greek word for figs, “ischada”.  Nowadays, in the local dialect of Kymi, Askada is called the final product that comes from two sundried figs opened and pressed together.

Askada Farm was established by Evaggelia and Stathis with love and respect to the special variety of figs that grow in this particular place in Greece, Kymi, Evia island.

Over the past few years, Evaggelia and Stathis have been operating a fig farm beside Melas river, close to the village Andronianoi, which is dedicated to organic cultivation and committed to offering you the unique taste of these precious figs.

Just in this very place in Greece can be found the trees that give birth to such fruits with delicate skin and remarkable taste, along with the unique process Evvagelia and Stathis follow to dehydrate them.

Every year in August, a group of people becomes a company that unites its forces to produce the ASKADA fig.
